Terry Fox Run & Orange Shirt Day
On Wednesday, September 30th, our school will be participating in the Terry Fox Run. On Friday, students took home a pledge sheet and are encouraged to collect donations and return their pledge forms by Wednesday, September 30th. The student with the most pledges will receive a prize and be the leader for our school walk.
September 30th is also "Orange Shirt Day" - a day to honor the children that went through the residential school system. We encourage students to wear orange on this day.
September 30th is also "Orange Shirt Day" - a day to honor the children that went through the residential school system. We encourage students to wear orange on this day.
Orange Shirt Day recognizes the harm done to generations of children by the Indian Residential Schools and is an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that every child matters. The orange shirt is symbolic of every residential school student’s loss of identity and self‐worth and becomes a symbol of defiance against the undermining of children’s self‐esteem. Orange Shirt Day recognizes our commitment to reconciliation, anti-racism and anti‐bullying in general.
