As we continue to get to know each other better this week, we've been spending time talking about showing kindness and respect in everything we do. We read a book called "What if Everybody Did That?" by Ellen Javernick which shows how each person's small every day choices - good or bad - have consequences one or the other. For example, you might think it's okay to litter because it was a small wrapper and you are only one person...but "What if EVERYBODY did that?". Each student created their own page to contribute to our class "What if Everybody Did That?". We took a positive spin and the book now sits in our class library for students to read.

Rocks and Minerals - A Special Visitor
The Grade 4's are beginning their rocks and minerals unit in science. This week we created our KWL chart by activating our prior knowledge (What do we already know about rocks and minerals?). We also came up with "I Wonder..." questions about what we want to learn during this unit.
On Wednesday, Mr. Conway, from the Regina Public Schools Outdoor Education Department came to our classroom to discuss our upcoming "Stones & Bones" field trip! On September 28th we will be doing an all day trip to the Dirt Hills located west of the town of Avonlea. The cost of the trip is $4.50 and this fee can be paid using the online school cash program. Students should dress in layers and must bring a cold lunch, plenty of water to drink, hat, socks, long pants and running shoes. The field trip permission forms went home on Friday. Please sign and return them at your earliest convenience.
